Location: Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire | Job type: Permanent, full time | Salary: £28,500 - £30,500 per annum

The role

We are recruiting a Graduate Lab Technician on behalf of a well-established and growing business based in Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a scientifically minded graduate looking to develop their career within a supportive laboratory environment, with full training provided.

Working within a busy analytical laboratory, you will support manufacturing operations by conducting a range of laboratory analytical tests, evaluating results, and maintaining the equipment and chemicals required for day-to-day lab activity. You will work to appropriate internal and external standards, capturing and reporting data with technical rigour and accuracy. The role would suit someone who is organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple activities concurrently.

Main responsibilities

  • Conduct a range of laboratory analytical tests in support of manufacturing operations
  • Evaluate test results and prepare accurate technical reports
  • Prepare and maintain standard equipment and chemicals required for laboratory operations
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate internal and external quality standards
  • Capture and report data with technical rigour and accuracy
  • Support wider laboratory activities as required

Skills/experience

Essential:

  • Degree in a relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience in a laboratory environment
  • Practical experience in performing analytical testing under GLP conditions
  • Experience using a range of instrumental and classical analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, GC-MS, UV spectroscopy, and wet chemistry (advantageous)
  • Good knowledge of standard laboratory equipment
  • Well organised with the ability to manage multiple activities concurrently
  • Computer literate in standard MS Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to follow written instructions accurately

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of chromatography data handling and processing systems
  • Good working knowledge of quality and regulatory standards, particularly GLP

Salary & working hours

  • Salary: £28,500 - £30,500 per annum
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 16:00 (no shifts)
