Software engineer
Location: St Neots Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
The role
We are recruiting a Software Engineer on behalf of a market-leading manufacturer based on in St Neots. Due to continued growth across both domestic and overseas markets, this well-established business is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join their small, close-knit software team.
This is a varied and genuinely interesting role, covering the programming, development, and support of equipment and systems — including robotics — used by clients worldwide. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available, and there are real opportunities for travel and career progression for the right person.
Main responsibilities
- Programme, develop, and support industrial equipment and systems
- Work with PLC and HMI control systems across a range of platforms
- Contribute to the development of software solutions for advanced processing and robotics applications
- Support equipment and systems for both domestic and international customers
Skills/experience
- Experience with PLC and HMI control programming — Mitsubishi PLCs are advantageous, though experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Omron is equally acceptable
- Familiarity with PLC structured text programming language
- Knowledge of a high-level PC programming language such as C#, Java, C++, VB, or Python
- A practical, problem-solving approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team
- Willingness to travel when required
Salary & working hours
- Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
- Hours: Daytime hours, Monday to Friday
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements available
