Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Job type: Fixed term contract (six months) Salary: Up to £60,500 per annum Shift pattern: Continental days and nights


The role

We are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business. This is a six-month fixed term contract working a continental days and nights shift pattern, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance engineer to join a busy and well-supported team.

In this role, you will carry out both preventive and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment within a fast-moving production environment, playing a key part in ensuring equipment effectiveness and availability. You will work closely with production teams to support performance targets and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives across the site.


Main responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults promptly
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company EHS policies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and Kaizen events
  • Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns and major repairs
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all interventions and maintenance history
  • Provide operational cover for shift engineers when required

Skills/experience

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills with experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Completed mechanical or electrical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) or equivalent
  • Ability to read technical drawings and troubleshoot engineering systems
  • Knowledge of CMMS platforms and lean manufacturing principles
  • HNC/HND qualification (desirable)
  • Experience with plastic extrusion or injection moulding (desirable)
  • IPAF and FLT training (desirable)

  • Salary: Up to £60,500 per annum
  • Shift pattern: Continental days and nights
  • Contract: Six-month fixed term
