Maintenance engineer
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Job type: Fixed term contract (six months) Salary: Up to £60,500 per annum Shift pattern: Continental days and nights
The role
We are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business. This is a six-month fixed term contract working a continental days and nights shift pattern, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance engineer to join a busy and well-supported team.
In this role, you will carry out both preventive and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment within a fast-moving production environment, playing a key part in ensuring equipment effectiveness and availability. You will work closely with production teams to support performance targets and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives across the site.
Main responsibilities
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on machinery and equipment
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults promptly
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company EHS policies
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including 5S and Kaizen events
- Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns and major repairs
- Maintain accurate documentation of all interventions and maintenance history
- Provide operational cover for shift engineers when required
Skills/experience
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical skills with experience in a manufacturing environment
- Completed mechanical or electrical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) or equivalent
- Ability to read technical drawings and troubleshoot engineering systems
- Knowledge of CMMS platforms and lean manufacturing principles
- HNC/HND qualification (desirable)
- Experience with plastic extrusion or injection moulding (desirable)
- IPAF and FLT training (desirable)

- Salary: Up to £60,500 per annum
- Shift pattern: Continental days and nights
- Contract: Six-month fixed term
