Location: Swavesey Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum


The role

We are recruiting a Quality Engineer on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in Swavesey. Operating within a high-precision, technical manufacturing environment, this is a business that takes quality seriously at every stage — from initial design through to final shipment.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections, checks, and tests to ensure all products meet the required standards of quality and safety. You will need a solid engineering background with a good understanding of quality requirements, and the ability to read and produce both technical and quality documents and drawings. This role would suit someone who is organised, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines.


Main responsibilities

  • Perform inspections to ensure all quality aspects of each job are met to the required standard
  • Carry out first article inspections and final inspections of outgoing parts
  • Check documents for accuracy and compliance with requirements
  • Audit quality control processes and programmes to ensure compliance with standards
  • Support internal and customer audits and maintain quality procedures and work instructions
  • Manage customer and supplier complaints and rejects
  • Carry out calibration of production equipment
  • Control engineering change requests
  • Support MRB and quality notification requirements
  • Liaise with other departments, suppliers, and customers on quality-related matters
  • Work with production management to develop solutions that improve production performance
  • Attend regular meetings to address and report on outstanding quality issues

Skills/experience

  • A basic engineering background with an understanding of engineering and quality requirements
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and produce technical drawings and quality documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments, suppliers, and customers

Salary & working hours

  • Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an early finish on Fridays
