The Role: Project Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join a highly respected and well-established engineering manufacturer. This Project Engineer position offers full lifecycle project ownership, from order receipt through to installation, commissioning and final handover. It is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially aware and technically capable Project Engineer who enjoys customer interaction and delivering complex engineering solutions.
Based in the UK, this is a permanent, office-based Project Engineer role with regular customer site visits. Overnight UK travel and occasional overseas travel will form part of the position. The successful Project Engineer will join a market-leading organisation with a strong reputation in its specialist field, working within a collaborative projects team delivering bespoke capital equipment solutions to major food manufacturers.
Main Responsibilities:
• Take full responsibility for projects from receipt of order through to successful installation and handover
• Act as the primary customer contact throughout the project lifecycle
• Develop and agree project scope alongside customers and internal sales teams
• Create, own and maintain detailed project schedules (Gantt charts)
• Produce and manage project documentation including scope of supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs and layout drawings
• Specify and source bought-out components and equipment
• Manage and control project change
• Organise delivery, installation and commissioning activities
• Coordinate FAT/PDI and Site Acceptance Testing
• Manage packing, shipping and export documentation where required
• Oversee on-site installations and manage subcontractors in the UK and overseas
• Ensure training delivery and full documentation handover
• Maintain commercial awareness, ensuring invoices are issued in line with project milestones
Skills/Experience:
• Previous experience in a Project Engineer role within a process engineering environment
• Experience within the food processing industry highly desirable
• Proven track record of delivering successful engineering projects
• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments and with customers
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and MS Project
• Experience using AutoCAD LT
• Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and pipework
• Basic understanding of electrical control systems advantageous
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Positive, proactive and organised approach
Salary & Working Hours:
