The Role: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced industrial environment. This is a key role within the engineering function, offering long-term stability, strong earning potential, and exposure to a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems.

This Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer position is ideal for someone with a solid background in electrical maintenance who also has good mechanical awareness. As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, and improving production machinery, while supporting continuous improvement and ensuring equipment reliability across a rotating double-days shift pattern.


Main Responsibilities:

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on production machinery
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on industrial and manufacturing equipment
• Install and maintain electrical systems in line with 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations
• Work on LV systems, motor starters, control circuits, and feedback loops
• Use electrical test equipment to diagnose faults across multiple circuits
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat failures
• Work independently to identify, report, and resolve electro-mechanical issues
• Input maintenance data accurately into engineering systems
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards and company procedures


Skills / Experience:

• Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong electrical background with mechanical engineering knowledge
• 17th or 18th Edition qualification
• Electrical apprenticeship (essential)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings
• Experience with diagnostics, fault-finding, and inspection/testing
• Working knowledge of IEE regulations and NICEIC requirements
• PLC, VFD, automation, or software experience (desirable)
• City & Guilds 2360, 2382, or 2391 qualifications (desirable)
• Computer literate with strong communication skills
• Full UK driving licence


Salary & Working Hours:

Salary: Dependent on experience – starting circa £45,000 per annum
Hours: Rotating Double Days (39 hours per week)

Week 1:
• Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 14:00
• Friday: 05:00 – 12:00

Week 2:
• Monday – Thursday: 14:00 – 22:00
• Friday: 12:00 – 19:00

• Paid breaks (2 x 15 minutes per shift)
• Overtime available and required when necessary
