We're recruiting an Application Support Specialist on behalf of a well-regarded, forward-thinking professional services firm with offices across the Midlands and East Anglia. This is a permanent, full-time position sitting within a collaborative IT team, offering the opportunity to play a central role in the stability, performance and continual improvement of a broad range of business-critical applications.
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys solving problems, communicating with people at all levels and making technology work better for the people who rely on it every day. You'll work closely with fee earners and business support teams, providing high-quality application support while contributing to system upgrades, enhancements and improvement projects. Office-based with some hybrid working available, and occasional travel to other offices may be required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing day-to-day support for core legal and business applications including practice management, document management, time recording and workflow tools
- Diagnosing and resolving application issues, keeping users updated and maintaining clear ticket documentation
- Investigating recurring problems and proposing long-term solutions or process improvements
- Liaising with third-party vendors and internal teams to resolve escalated issues
- Assisting with testing and communication for system upgrades, patches and vendor releases
- Supporting user acceptance testing (UAT) and running basic test scripts
- Assisting with configuration tasks including user setups, permission updates and application settings
- Performing integration and automation checks and escalating technical issues as required
- Delivering application training to new starters and following system changes or upgrades
- Producing user-friendly guides, quick reference materials and knowledge base articles
- Supporting floor-walking activities during go-lives and major updates
- Adhering to firm-wide security standards including information governance and ISO 27001 requirements
Skills/Experience:
- Previous experience in an application support, systems support or technical analyst role within professional services – essential
- Strong working knowledge of legal or business applications such as Elite 3E, iManage, Intapp Time, BigHand or Microsoft 365 – essential
- Ability to analyse complex issues and provide clear, practical solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong documentation skills and a process-driven approach
- Experience with system integrations using APIs or middleware – desirable
- Knowledge of PowerShell, Power BI, SSRS or template automation – desirable
- Exposure to structured testing or QA frameworks – desirable
- ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent – desirable
- Experience in a law firm or regulated environment – desirable
Salary & Working Hours:
Salary is competitive and dependent on experience. This is a full-time, permanent position. Office-based with some hybrid working available depending on business needs. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required for upgrades or critical maintenance, and travel between offices may be needed from time to time.
