Product Manager

Product manager

Location: Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £80,000 per annum

The role

We are recruiting a Product Manager on behalf of a well-established and innovative technology business. Working as part of a collaborative product management team, you will play a central role in developing a product roadmap built around market demand, customer needs, and ongoing innovation.

This is a broad and varied role with real influence — from engaging directly with customers and internal stakeholders to translating product concepts into clear requirements and driving them through the full development cycle to delivery. You will take ownership of your products end to end, becoming a genuine expert in your users and your market. The role involves some travel, so a full, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required. Please note that the successful candidate will be required to obtain SC security clearance, which the business will apply for on your behalf.

Main responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the success of your products, their fit with the market, and in-life return on investment
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap and vision, contributing to overall product strategy based on research, data, and industry trends
  • Interact with internal and external customers to understand the market, identify opportunities and risks, and drive feature design and engineering priorities
  • Write clear and unambiguous requirements for both internal and external customers
  • Assess new and existing features through user research and data, focusing on key usage metrics to continuously improve product performance
  • Lead and contribute to user documentation, data sheets, and product bulletins
  • Own short, medium, and long-term product strategy in line with the wider company roadmap
  • Plan new features and changes, demonstrating ideas and updates to stakeholders
  • Meet regularly with cross-functional stakeholders including development, marketing, customer service, and finance
  • Collect, analyse, and respond to user feedback, gathering and evaluating ideas and opinions
  • Manage one or more product budgets
  • Inspire and inform development teams to create and enhance high-quality products
  • Identify new opportunities to increase user conversion, retention, and monetisation once products are live
  • Attend relevant conferences and industry events
  • Research competitors and similar products to inform strategy

Skills/experience

Essential:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or associated technologies (or equivalent strong educational background)

  • Proven ability to drive products in complex environments with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong technical awareness, with specific knowledge of mobile operating systems, communication standards, and information architecture
  • Experience with LTE devices and the Android platform
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and influence across cultures and seniority levels
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple products simultaneously
  • Flexible and responsive approach to changing priorities
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
