Payroll Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Payroll Supervisor to manage the weekly payroll process within a busy finance team. This office-based Payroll Supervisor role offers the opportunity to take ownership of payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with statutory and company requirements.

As a Payroll Supervisor, you will work closely with senior finance leadership to process payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records. The Payroll Supervisor will also support wider accounts team activities, making this a varied and hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a structured, deadline-driven environment. This is a permanent, part-time, office-based role offering stability and responsibility within an established organisation.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll using Sage Payroll software.

  • Gather, calculate and input payroll data including timesheets, statutory payments, benefits, and deductions.

  • Respond to employee payroll queries regarding wages, attendance, and deductions.

  • Maintain and update holiday pay records and benefits data.

  • Prepare pension and auto-enrolment information in line with regulations.

  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies.

  • Produce payroll reports for record-keeping and management review.

  • Post and maintain accurate expense records.

  • Issue wage slips and process payments.

  • Support the wider accounts function as required.

  • Ensure compliance with payroll policies, GDPR regulations, and relevant legislation.


Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ payroll and general accounts experience.

  • Experience using Sage Payroll and Sage Accounts software.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.


Salary & Working Hours:

  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.

  • Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

  • Contract: Permanent.
