The role

We are recruiting a Production Technician on behalf of a world-leading, independently owned technology business based in Cambridge. Designing and manufacturing advanced systems for defence, security, and industrial.

You will join an established production team working on the electromechanical assembly and test of a variety of high-precision products, from cable assemblies through to full system builds. The role involves manufacture and testing of mechanical, optical, and electronic assemblies, component-level fault finding, and accurate documentation throughout. It suits someone with initiative, strong attention to detail, and a flexible approach to working across a variety of technologies. Main responsibilities

  • Electromechanical assembly and test of high-precision products, ranging from cable assemblies through to full system builds
  • Manufacture and testing of mechanical, optical, and electronic assemblies
  • Component-level fault finding, troubleshooting, and debugging
  • SMT soldering to 0201 and PCB repair
  • Wiring and cable and harness assembly
  • Use of standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, and signal generators
  • Reading and interpreting schematic designs
  • Assembly work within cleanroom environments using appropriate opto-mechanical techniques
  • Accurate recording and documentation of assembly and test outcomes

Skills/experience

  • A formal engineering qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of electronic fundamentals
  • Proven troubleshooting, fault finding, and debugging skills
  • SMT soldering to 0201 and PCB repair experience
  • Wiring and cable and harness assembly experience
  • Proficient in the use of standard test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, and signal generators
  • Ability to read schematic designs
  • Working knowledge of PCB design software
  • Basic experience with SolidWorks or another mechanical design software package
  • Understanding of cleanroom techniques for opto-mechanical assembly
  • Computer literate with good attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Basic understanding of analogue and digital video processing (desirable)

Salary & working hours

  • Salary: £35,000 - £37,000, dependent on experience
  • Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
