The role

We are recruiting a Trainee Electrical Assembler on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity, offering the right candidate a genuine route into a long-term career within electronics and electrical assembly.

In this hands-on position, you will be assembling, testing, and inspecting electromechanical components and systems to ensure high-quality production standards are consistently met. This role is ideally suited to someone with a real interest in electronics who is looking to grow and develop their skills over time, the scope for progression here is genuine, and the business is committed to supporting the right person on that journey.


Main responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electrical components in accordance with technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions
  • Perform wiring, soldering, crimping, and cable assembly
  • Conduct functional testing and quality inspections of assembled units
  • Identify and troubleshoot faults or assembly issues
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support process improvements

Skills/experience

  • A genuine interest in electronics and a desire to build a long-term career in the field
  • Some experience in electrical or electromechanical assembly, or a similar hands-on role (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment
  • A basic understanding of electrical systems and components
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
