Multi-skilled maintenance engineer (mechanical bias)

The role
We are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a long-established and well-respected engineering and manufacturing business. This is a hands-on, varied role that will suit someone who enjoys the challenge of keeping a busy site running at its best — from fixing breakdowns to following planned maintenance schedules across a wide range of machinery and equipment.
While both mechanical and electrical skills are required, this role is mechanically biased and will appeal to someone who takes real pride in their practical craft. You will work as part of a close-knit team, primarily on site but with the occasional requirement to attend a client's site. A sound awareness of health and safety, production standards, and good working practices is essential.
Main responsibilities
- Maintain a variety of site machinery including machine shop mills, lathes, drills, sheet metal and fabricating machines, hand tools, polishers, and heaters
- Assemble and fit new equipment as required
- Carry out electrical works across the site
- Plumbing and general site maintenance
- Respond to and resolve site breakdowns in a timely manner
- Uphold quality engineering standards at all times
- Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, attendance, and timekeeping
Skills/experience
- Practical, hands-on maintenance experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Mechanically biased with a working knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to work across a broad range of machinery and site equipment
- Sound understanding of health and safety practices
- A team player with good communication and timekeeping
- Able to work on a client's site when required
Salary & working hours
- Salary: Dependent on experience
- Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday,
- Overtime available at 1.5x the hourly rate (Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings), a reasonable amount of overtime is expected when requested
