The Role: Design Engineer
Are you an experienced Design Engineer with a passion for hydraulic and mechanical innovation? This permanent position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of challenging projects, you’ll be directly involved in taking designs from concept through to testing, validation, and production, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals.
Based in St Neots, this full-time role is ideal for a hands-on engineer looking to apply strong problem-solving skills within a collaborative, global environment. Main Responsibilities (Design Engineer):
- Design and optimise hydraulic quick-disconnect couplings for performance and cost efficiency
- Lead projects from concept through to prototyping, validation testing, and analysis
- Develop and maintain product design standards and documentation
- Collaborate with global teams to plan schedules and execute projects
- Provide technical input to commercial and production teams
- Apply Six Sigma tools (SPC, FMEA, DOE) to problem-solving and process improvements
Skills/Experience (Design Engineer):
- 5+ years’ experience in product design, development, and testing
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in CAD (PTC Creo preferred)
- Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on approach to design
- Experience in hydraulic coupling or mechanical design (advantageous)
- Willingness to travel internationally (10–20%)
- Effective communicator with experience working in cross-functional/global teams
Salary & Working Hours (Design Engineer):
- Full-time, permanent position
- Monday to Friday, standard office hours
