Service centre technician
Location: Alconbury, Cambridgeshire Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £27,500 per annum
The role
We are recruiting a Service Centre Technician on behalf of a well-established business based in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire. You will join an experienced technical services team, responsible for servicing, testing, calibrating, and maintaining a range of specialist equipment. It would suit a practical, methodical technician who takes pride in accurate work and keeping clear records, and who is comfortable working as part of a small team but also independently.
Main responsibilities
- Test, calibrate, and service a range of specialist equipment.
- Service and maintain small compressors and other pneumatic equipment, including run testing
- Carry out repairs on equipment, including control board repairs using a soldering iron
- Inspect returned hire equipment, checking all parts are present and in the condition they were sent out
- Record all work accurately on the job management system and complete calibration certificates and reports
- Work through the service queue on a first come, first served basis
- Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop lifting equipment safely
- Keep the service area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures
Skills/experience
- Practical, hands-on experience in a technical workshop, service, or calibration environment
- Good mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to follow test and service procedures
- Soldering experience for repairing electronic control boards
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Competent using hand tools, power tools, and standard workshop equipment
- Comfortable with manual handling and working safely with lifting aids
- Experience with fibre optic splicing, gas detector calibration, or compressor servicing (desirable)
- A reliable, methodical approach and a good team player
Salary & working hours
- Salary: £27,500 per annum
- Hours: Basic daytime hours, Monday to Friday
