Laboratory Technician
£27,500 plus benefits
Our client based in Huntingdon have a new post due to in house progression. They are looking for a Laboratory Technician to work in their Laboratory and Workshop department. This is a key element within the customer service proposition. This work provides a critical factor within the supply chain and the attainment of the company's strategic goals globally. You will play a key role in making sure that the customer gets the correct product, to the correct specification, at the right time. Working in an efficient and effective manner, you will deal with a range of product requests, ensuring that they reach the customer in great condition.
Specific skills, experience for the Laboratory Technician.
• Ensure Safety within work area by completing safety checks, following SWPs, SOPs
• Electroplate metals to the customer specification
• Produce microfoils
• Measure material thickness and composition using X-Ray HDV equipment
• Measure surface roughness • Measure material hardness
• Produce thickness, roughness, hardness and other required reports
• Use acid baths to remove oxidisation from the metals
• Good knowledge of metals
• Repacking rare metals and poisonous, toxic materials
• Work closely with other departments and assist with the technical questions
• Select correct material from stock for finished item
• Produce finished item to production sheet specifications, minimising wastage to meet customer expectations
• Ability to understand engineering drawings
• Inspection of finished items
• Accurate completion of documentation and systems for each completed job
• Ensure timely turnaround of orders
• Direct contact and liaison for enquiries from Sales and Service team
• Support Writing SOPs and SWPs
