I am recruiting for a Transport Administrator for one of our longstanding clients that are based in Alconbury to join their small friendly team. The ideal candidate will be confident in dealing with people over the phone, in person and via email communications.

The Transport Administrator will ensure that they are promoting the company’s hard-earned reputation which has been built on a foundation of quality. The business has an ethos of excellent customer service which permeates through the organisation and remains strong today.

The Transport Administrator role is part of the Warehouse & Supply Chain Team you will be responsible for creating the daily transport for customer orders. (Varying from 20 to 40 vehicles per day) and communicating this to the selected carriers and other Teams.

Responsibilities:

  • You will have responsibility for the co-ordination of the transport booking process, ensuring the best and most efficient service is utilised.
  • Ensure daily bookings with Hauliers are completed using the company ERP Systems, and ensuring correct information is supplied.
  • Coordinating with and assigning chosen Hauliers to shipments, ensuring all customer delivery dates are maintained.
  • To be the first point of contact within the organisation for all transport issues within the Alconbury site.
  • Daily monitoring of the transport, resolving issues and troubleshooting where required.
  • Maintaining clear communication with the Warehouse Team, to ensure deliveries are loaded accurately.
  • You will investigate transport complaints from customers and provide necessary solutions in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service Team at the other site to ensure orders are shipped and delivered within customer expectations and time limits.
  • Support the Office Team in raising orders, booking Raw Material tanker deliveries, assisting with monthly and annual stock takes.
  • You will also be expected to support the Supply Chain team and the wider site with general office tasks. This may include dealing with visitors, taking phone calls, and embracing the company values.

Experience

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise key tasks while maintaining diligence.
  • Experience within a similar industry/role would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of different transport types would be an advantage.
  • Good communicative and social skills.
  • Proficient IT Skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong in analytical skills and able to initiate improvement projects.

Hours & Pay

  • Monday to Friday.
  • Flexi start: 08:30 – 17:00 or 09:00 – 17:30
  • £24,000 per annum.
