Test Engineer

£35,000 plus benefits

Our client is a busy manufacturing company based in Hitchin. They are looking to grow the team and currently have a vacancy for a Test Engineer.

The Test Engineer will have a varied post due the range of products and the likely products involved, you would need the ability to work in a small batch/large mix environment. This role will involve all aspects of testing both analogue and digital electronics .

You will also have the opportunity to gain more knowledge and the ability to grasp the concept of all SMT production including drawings and BOM's. Be involved in Quality Improvement activities and be able to suggest improvements, which lead to better quality and efficiency.

Key duties for the Test Engineer

  • Electronically test items from production, in accordance with customer specifications and by accurately completing relevant test documentation.
  • Fault finding to component level using customer circuit diagrams.
  • Write and maintain process notes for all products tested.
  • Carry out visual inspections to IPC610 on all products tested.
  • Record defect information.
  • Assist in internal audits for ISO9001 2015.
  • Escalate failures and assist in analysing data.
  • Support the Production Supervisor on quality defects.
  • Identify future equipment requirement.
  • Complete product tests to agreed schedules.
  • Strive to meet zero defects. Investigate, identify and rectify.
  • Any other task reasonably requested within the production department.

Skills required for the Test Engineer

ONC in Electronics or above, with experience working in a medium volume test environment.

Knowledge of ISO and IPC standards.

Work consistently without supervision.

Great communication and organizational skills.

Fully understand BOM's and drawings.
