We are working on behalf of a long established and respected engineering manufacturing company to find a Stores Assistant to join their busy team. This is a great opportunity for someone with previous stores or material handling experience to join a stable, well regarded business.
You will be responsible for supporting the arrival, storage, issue and reporting of material movements into the factory and in and out of stores, while helping to maintain accurate stock and traceability records.
Main Responsibilities
- Issue consumable materials and loaned tools from stores, recording all transactions on the stock system
- Assist with receiving deliveries, checking quantities against purchase orders and reporting any discrepancies
- Match advice notes with purchase orders and pass these to the purchasing department daily
- Stock job baskets from pick lists issued by the MRP administrator
- Prepare, protect and pack consignments for deliveries to customers and suppliers
- Support the Stores Supervisor with day to day duties, including providing cover during periods of absence
- Maintain a clean and tidy stores area, keeping material handling equipment in good order
- Deliver and collect materials as required
- Build strong working relationships with factory supervisors and share ideas for improving procedures
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in stores or material handling is desirable
- A forklift licence would be an advantage, though training can be arranged for the right candidate
- Good competency in maths and English
- Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft software
- Organised, methodical and precise, with a flexible and team focused approach
- Strong time management skills
Salary and Working Hours
This is a full time role working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
£16.00 per hour
