The Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement Specialist to take the lead on major, complex procurement activities within a high-profile national infrastructure programme. You will play a pivotal part in shaping long-term, sustainable outcomes by delivering robust procurement strategies that drive value, efficiency, and compliance.

Based between Peterborough and London with hybrid flexibility, this permanent role offers the chance to influence large-scale projects that will have lasting environmental and community impact. Main Responsibilities:

  • Align procurement activity with the overarching procurement and supply chain strategy.

  • Manage a portfolio of complex procurement projects, ensuring timely, compliant, and value-driven outcomes.

  • Lead supplier selection processes and commercial negotiations.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to meet programme requirements.

  • Develop and maintain deep market and category insight to support strategic decision-making.

  • Use data and market intelligence to identify risks, opportunities, and forecasting needs.

  • Monitor post-award contract performance and support supplier improvement or exit activity where required.

  • Ensure all procurement work meets legal, regulatory, and internal governance standards.


Skills/Experience:

  • Proven background delivering complex, over-threshold service or works procurements.

  • Strong understanding of Procurement Act 2023 and/or UCR 2016.

  • Ability to influence at senior levels and manage multiple simultaneous projects.

  • CIPS Level 5 (or working toward) OR a Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain, or a commercial discipline.

  • Extensive commercial acumen and experience within construction or major infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.


Salary & Working Hours:

  • Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience.

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, full-time (part-time considered).

  • Contract: Permanent.

  • Location: Peterborough and London (hybrid working, 2–3 days per week on site including one mandatory day in Peterborough).
