Senior Buyer

£35,000 to £38.000 plus benefits 

Work as part of a small purchasing team with responsibility for all purchasing activity and supplier order book management for nominated projects, including sourcing of electronic commodities, drawn parts.

Key Tasks for the Senior Buyer

 

  • Purchasing of a number of high value and complex electronic and electromechanical products.
  • Managing new enquiries and repeat projects including prototyping, selecting suppliers, negotiation, schedules and logistics of incoming material.
  • Collating quotes, analysing and negotiating with suppliers for fixed annual pricing in order to maximise company returns.
  • Data entry and record amendment on ERP system.
  • Hold supplier reviews where necessary for order book management, call off/replenishment orders and RAN’s for your projects.
  • Build working relationships with current and new suppliers.
  • Support in developing a strategic approach to the management of suppliers including development and management of appropriate supplier KPIs.
  • Management of RANs.
  • Assist accounts with any invoice queries in a timely manner.
  • Support Sales function with preparing quotes and costings.
  • Work effectively with other stakeholders in the company to ensure material issues are resolved and last material dates are communicated.
  • Monitor purchasing costs against standards and ensure variances are communicated to the relevant Account Manager.
  • Support HOSC/Purchasing Manager in any other duties.

Experience required for the Senior Buyer

  •       3 years’ experience of electronic manufacturing purchasing.
  •       Experience with ISO9001, ISO13485, TUV, UL Standards.
  •       Knowledge of electronic systems and components, associated costs/pricing and influencing factors.
  •       ​​​​​​​Ability to read, understand and extract technical information from drawings. Process knowledge in metalwork, precision and manufactured parts preferred.
  •       Experience in supplier/customer relationship management.
  •       Clear understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment.
  •       An organised approach with good business acumen.
  •       Excellent analytical skills and good attention to detail.
  •       Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with other team & department members.
  •       Good IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word, vlookups desirable.
  •       ERP/MRP system experience.
