The Role: Quality Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Quality Engineer to join a well-established UK manufacturer based in Cambridgeshire. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the chance to play a key role in maintaining and improving quality standards within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This hands-on role will suit someone with solid experience in quality systems, ISO9001:2015, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with the Quality and Technical leadership team to ensure processes, products, and systems consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements. The position offers real scope to make an impact, driving improvements in product quality, compliance, and efficiency across the business.
Main Responsibilities (Quality Engineer):
- Oversee day-to-day quality control operations and support production teams to ensure compliance with company and customer standards.
- Conduct internal audits in line with ISO9001:2015 and assist in preparing for external audits.
- Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D and root cause analysis.
- Develop, maintain, and improve quality management documentation including procedures, process flows, and work instructions.
- Lead or support product validation testing and verification activities.
- Train and guide production teams on best practices in quality and inspection processes.
- Ensure calibration, testing, and inspection equipment meet ISO and HSE requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions and drive continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience (Quality Engineer):
- Proven experience in a Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO9001:2015 quality management systems.
- Practical experience with internal auditing, non-conformance investigation, and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across departments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.
- Good IT skills including MS Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g. Sage) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and 8D methodology is desirable but not required.
Salary & Working Hours (Quality Engineer):
- Salary: £28,000 – £34,000 per annum (depending on experience).
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (day shift).
- Location: Office-based in Huntingdon with regular shop floor interaction.
