The Role: Grinder / Machinist
Are you an experienced Grinder / Machinist with a background in precision engineering? This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established engineering company based in St Neots, working within a small but highly skilled manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you will primarily set and operate cylindrical and surface grinders while also gaining exposure to gear cutting operations such as hobbing and shaping.
This is a full-time, permanent position offering variety, technical challenge, and the opportunity to develop new skills in gear cutting. As a Grinder / Machinist, you’ll be working in a precision environment where attention to detail and quality are paramount, with the support of excellent facilities and a collaborative, close-knit team.
Main Responsibilities (Grinder / Machinist):
• Set and operate cylindrical and surface grinders to meet engineering specifications
• Support gear cutting operations, including hobbing and shaping gears
• Liaise with the Manufacturing Manager / Supervisor to agree work priorities
• Manufacture components to meet quality standards and inspection schedules
• Accurately complete all documentation in line with company procedures
Skills/Experience (Grinder / Machinist):
• Previous experience in a precision machining or grinding environment
• Strong focus on quality and production efficiency
• Willingness to learn new skills, particularly gear cutting
• Ability to follow technical drawings and instructions
• Proactive and flexible approach to work with excellent attention to detail
Salary & Working Hours (Grinder / Machinist):
• Competitive pay (dependent on experience) with premium overtime rates
• Monday – Thursday: 8.00am to 5.00pm
• Friday: 8.00am to 2.00pm
