Electrical Assembly & Test Technician

We are looking for a skilled Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join a leading manufacturer. In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll be wiring and connecting complete electrical systems, carrying out functional testing, and providing electrical support around the production site. Your work will directly contribute to the delivery of high-quality, complex machines used in specialist manufacturing environments.
 
This permanent position is based on the outskirts of St Neots and offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. You’ll enjoy a mix of workshop-based assembly and testing as well as occasional site installation work, with clear routes for career progression into controls engineering, testing, and commissioning roles.
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • Wire and connect complete electrical systems across machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators, and interconnects
  • Carry out functional testing, I/O checks, and basic fault-finding prior to commissioning
  • Verify signal paths and validate safe operation before software upload or HMI integration
  • Work from electrical schematics, layout drawings, and structured BOMs
  • Support electrical installation tasks around the factory, including lighting circuits and distribution boards
  • Assist in machinery installations and electrical improvement projects within production areas
  • Collaborate with other departments during machine build for routing, alignment, and system integration
  • Maintain safe, organised, and professional working practices
Skills/Experience:
  • Proven experience in machine wiring or industrial electrical assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring documentation
  • Hands-on experience with control devices, drives, sensors, and motors (DOL and VFD)
  • Confident in identifying and resolving faults during build and testing
  • Flexible to work across workshop and on-site electrical tasks
  • Strong teamwork skills and attention to workmanship quality
Salary & Working Hours:
  • Salary dependent on experience
  • 39 hours per week, Monday–Friday:
